About

Hi, I’m Lauren!

DesignEd Schools is my independent creative technology studio. I design brands, build digital products, develop learning experiences, and generally spend a lot of time figuring out how to turn ideas into actual things. My background is a slightly unusual mash up of advertising, education, design, and technology. Turns out, that's a pretty useful combo.

Meet the Founder

I'm Lauren Heil, a designer, former educator, and creative technologist.

I started my career in graphic design and art direction, spent seven years teaching computer science and digital arts, and eventually started building my own digital products.

Along the way, I've worked in advertising, educational technology, professional learning, accessibility, illustration, and product development.

These days, I get to bring all those experiences together.

A few things I believe.

Good design should make life easier.

If something is confusing, there's probably a better way to communicate it.

Technology should have a point.

Cool tools are fun. Useful tools are even better.

People learn by doing.

Give people something interesting to make and watch what happens.

Ideas deserve to be brought to life.

Sometimes you just have to make the thing and see what happens.

Enough about me. What are you working on?
